HOW TO MAKE THE MOST OF YOUR OUTDOOR SPACE

As the weather warms and nature bursts into life, our clients’ needs are just as much about the outside as the inside of their homes. When planning a new space, we look for ways to link the outdoors to the interior space and look at where we can use outside spaces however small.

Many projects in London are often challenged by the lack of outdoor space, but even a small balcony or inner well or courtyard space can be transformed into a place to sit on warmer days. By adding a bit of planting, whether real for the green fingered or faux (and there are some great options on the market these days), a glimpse of comfy seating and some greenery can lift the spirits and add to the versatility of a home.

We have been lucky to also work on bigger projects all over the world, some with generous gardens and outdoor spaces which we divide into outdoor rooms by zoning them. This can be done using planters, screening or even by just grouping together furniture to create spaces to eat, entertain, relax and even to enjoy an afternoon siesta.

Of course, our projects in the UK don’t always enjoy the balmy climate of our more international homes, so thinking about turning living spaces into garden rooms and adding glazing to look out on garden spaces works so well and an option which can be used 365 days a year.
